Rainstorm Renaissance

A devastating flood created an unexpected opportunity to recreate a home in the rural landscape

On a site with wide open access to views of the front range there was a big opportunity to reframe this home's connection to the land. The original (pre-flood) house was located such that other outbuildings on the site blocked the views from the house to the west and it's main entry was oriented to the east, facing the road and away from the views.  After time spent walking the site we located the new home south and west from the original location, faced the large windows to the south and flipped the main entry to the west side so that the whole experience of living on this property brings the majesty of the Rocky Mountains into the everyday life.

The interior spaces were designed with the owner's personalities in focus. The spaces are crafted for a day to day intimacy but also to fit a social lifestyle filled with live music, party gatherings, and canine friends.

The many hands-on hours put in by the owner, family and friends makes for spaces that simply feel good.
